GPA, SGPA & CGPA calculator
Add your courses, credits and grades. Get your GPA on a 4.0 scale or SGPA on a 10-point scale, then combine semesters into CGPA.
CGPA from semesters
Runs in your browser. Nothing you type leaves your device.
How to calculate GPA with credits
- Choose the 4.0 scale or the 10-point scale.
- Add each course with its credits and your grade.
- Read your GPA or SGPA, updated as you type.
- To get CGPA, enter each semester’s SGPA and credits in the second section.
The GPA formula
GPA = Σ (grade points × credits) ÷ Σ credits. Courses with more credits count more. A course with zero credits does not change your GPA.
CGPA = Σ (SGPA × semester credits) ÷ Σ semester credits. Averaging SGPAs without credits is only correct when every semester has the same credits.
Using your GPA to plan study time
Your lowest-grade, highest-credit course has the biggest effect on your GPA. Give it the longest study blocks in your week. The study plan generator lets you mark it as “hard” so it gets three times the time of an easy course.
FAQ
How do I calculate my GPA?
Multiply each course’s grade points by its credits, add those up, and divide by the total credits. For example, an A (4.0) in a 3-credit course and a B (3.0) in a 4-credit course gives (12 + 12) ÷ 7 = 3.43.
What is the difference between SGPA and CGPA?
SGPA (semester grade point average) is your average for one semester. CGPA (cumulative grade point average) is the credit-weighted average across all semesters so far. Use the CGPA section of the calculator to combine semesters.
What grade points does the 10-point scale use?
The calculator uses the UGC choice-based credit system scale common in Indian universities: O = 10, A+ = 9, A = 8, B+ = 7, B = 6, C = 5, P = 4, F = 0. Check your university’s rules, as some use different letters.
What grade points does the 4.0 scale use?
A+ and A = 4.0, A− = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, B− = 2.7, C+ = 2.3, C = 2.0, C− = 1.7, D+ = 1.3, D = 1.0, F = 0. This is the most common US scale.
Can I track my GPA over a whole degree?
Yes, in the ClassTrack app you log marks as you get them and your GPA updates. With Pro, the semester wrap-up saves each semester and tracks SGPA and CGPA.
